Grand Theft Auto IV sold over 609,000 copies in the UK on its first day of release.
The game sold 335,000 units on the Xbox 360, topping Halo 3 which sold 266,000 units on its first day. Sales on PS3 for GTA IV were 274,000 units day one, easily making GTA IV the top selling PS3 debut in the UK. The previous record for an opening day debut was 501,000 units in the UK, held by Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
